New! Giant heirloom sunflower.
Old-fashioned tall branching sunflower. A good choice for farm beautification, sunflower mazes, and tall border rows. The flower-producing branches are concentrated in the top third of the plants, producing a grand show of color. Tall, extremely vigorous plants produce 6-10" wide blooms with classic golden petals and dark brown centers. Compared to varieties like Mongolian Giant, Henry Wilde is similar in height but produces multiple smaller blooms on plants with a branching habit. Bears pollen; good for bee forage. Stem length is 15-44". Branching; produces many long stems.
- Edible Flowers: Flower buds can be fried and the petals used as a garnish in salads and desserts; the flavor is bittersweet.
